Snooth: a plug for a social networking wine snob web site.

[This may be posted twice. Apparently PGP posting is broken again. Whatever, respond to this one.]

Several friends of mine have been working pretty hard on Snooth for the past few months.

You can't see all the things that I can see, but (you can now, see update) if you like drinking wine, you want this in the same way that if you listen to music you wanted pandora.com before it existed. This is your early notice. Snooth will be public in a couple of weeks.

Why use it? Well, Betsey says it quite sufficiently. But go there and click on “can I see some examples”. You've no reason to believe that those aren't canned results beyond my saying so, but they're not. That's how the search engine works, and that's the basic part. The tracking wines you've liked and presenting wines you will like, ala NetFlix, is the shiny part.

I strongly encourage you to look at it now. I'll remind you again when it's public. Or just submit an email address (using user+snooth@domain.dom works fine; I tested that earlier today) to get a heads up.

I'm very excited for them.

Update: As Philip points out below, Snooth is now in an open beta, so just go ask for an account.
