[Tried posting this through email+PGP, didn't show up, which either means it'll show up eventually or never.]
Around clicking “submit” on jobcircle a lot and speaking with recruiters yesterday, I cleaned up the eclipsed.net “datacenter” (read, spare bedroom in my apartment) a bit. In the process, I discovered three computers I'd forgotten I owned: a PowerMac [...]
Just noticed that (as I could have predicted) the final image from my webcam at the former employer is me in the act of moving information that they might still need to a network share before a dd if=/dev/urandom of=<raw partition for /home> bs=4096k:
“So you're just taking your caffeine level past the medical definition of 'stimulant' into the 'poisons' category?”
(Actually, I average about 15 ounces–that's 10 shots–of espresso a day. Which is slightly under what's described there. But I'm not writing fiction.)
Why do you keep tempting me?
It's so obvious that I don't need one.
I've been using the same email address for just over six years now.
Even the spam doesn't matter much any more, it's just an interesting statistic.
I so don't need webmail. I don't even like GUI MUAs, never mind web ones.
But, oddly, I'm finding it [...]
So, I've got a Nikon 5700 (recall that I asked for opinions on it a while ago–and did get responses, though not publicly on lj). I'm happy with it. 8x optical zoom, less than completely braindamaged UI, behaves like a USB mass storage device (even under my wonky NetBSD 1.6K kernel; just don't unplug it [...]
My employer and I parted ways today. The timing was a bit out of my control, which is mildly irritating (especially since it's two days after my birthday), but it's something that I'd have initiated relatively soon anyway (though not till I had some place else to work).
Please don't anyone be worried (I'm not out [...]
15:51 <gr> , how the fuck do I make a Linux md device rebuild?
15:51 <gr> It's a RAID-1 set.
15:51 <gr> And on boot it kicks out one of the disks.
15:51 <gr> Which is, fine, whatever, but, um, how do I say “I know this one disk is correct, just use it, please.”
15:51 <gr> ckraid doesn't [...]
… I think I might finally have Veritas NBU behaving correctly.
Maybe.
In that I've stopped adding developer-of-component-X to my “first against the wall” list.
I'm going to need a very large wall.
I'm thinking of maybe buying some property in China.
's calling it quits.
Suck.
