So, they're giving me a windows box at work again.
The first one died about six months after I started here. I basically didn't use it anyway. Had it shut off. One day I switched it on to read some Visio file or something… and the hard drive failed to spin up.
But the new ticketing system must run on Windows. It's got a web interface… (wait for it) … that uses ActiveX.
So, they're giving me an XP box. It's XP, instead of 2k, since XP includes a single-user terminal services license. So, there'll be another PC sitting in the corner of my cube, hooked up to the ethernet switch. And I'll rdesktop to get to it. Be damned if I'm giving it desk space, or giving up one of my Xinerama-managed monitors to it.
I think I can live with this arrangement.
